Today, East Spring teachers and some CCA members made a wonderful concert for us and I engraved it deeply in my brain. I still can remember vividly what the items are. Our principle also allowed us to wear our festive clothes. I wore a Giordano singlet top with a Jean jacket, (I took it out before watching the last item) and a pair of Jeans.
The MCees were 2 girls from 4C. I couldn't quite catch their names. I went for audition once too when I was in primary 4, but it failed. I'm not gifted in that aspect , maybe.
First, Mr Teo spoke to us about Chinese new year and told us to practise more Graciousness during the festive season.
Then, there was a video clip on the 12 animals in the Zodiac. The story goes ........
The rat( or mouse) and ox were the first to reach the palace. And they argued on who to be the Zodiac King. The rat stood on top of the ox and asked the Jade emperor who he could see 1st. Of course, the Jade emperor said he saw the rat first. So the rat was 1st in position and the ox was 2nd. Then came the tiger. It was furious that it could not get the position of the Zodiac King. Then hopped along the little rabbit( 4th in position) and it told the tiger not to be so bad tempered.
A snake, who lost almost all its energy, slithered slowly to the palace. To its dismay, when it was a few steps away from the palace, a dragon flew past it and took the position of the fifth. The snake was dejected and fainted. However, when I laid down , its body grew longer and touched the red line, which is the line for entry and it became the 6th in position. Together in unity, the horse and the sheep came. However, the horse was a step faster than the sheep. There the hilarious monkey came.
3 animals left. The rooster, dog and pig. The dog was ahead of the rooster and the rooster was in front of the pig. Exhausted was the pig. The rooster said to itself : " I must speed up , I must speed up." Then all of a sudden, the pig fell down. The kind hearted dog stopped to encourage it. Just then, the rooster had already reache the red line. The dog took a last glanced at the pig and ran towards the line. Hence, it got the 11th position and the pig got 12th.
Next there was the Wu Shu performance. We seemed to have watched it before.... But I enjoyed it though. Next the Chinese dance came out. I don't know what they are dancing about, I don't understand, too.
The Gu Zheng was next. My friend, Shu Leng performed in it. Last year there was also the Chinese orchestra. But this year there wasn't. I don't know why. The Gu Zheng's first song I thought it sounded like 《花调词 (sorry it's hua diao ci for those non-chinese)》 that we played in Chinese Orchestra. But the title was different.
We sung 2 new year songs: 《恭喜恭喜(Gong xi gong xi）》and 《贺新年( he xin nian) 》before going to watch the lion dance. It was superb! I was deadly impressed that one of the man controlling the lion body could lift the other man controlling the lion head! My brother said he caught the orange the lion spat out, but he gave them away. I think he's a fool . He caught three and gave three away. My mum says it will bring you good luck and my brother says they're unfair to people behind. After that, we were dismissed. I really enjoyed this day..... Sorry this post contains no pictures because I didn't want my handphone to be confiscated.
